Acro Eating Nudi's Treatment

Hello,
I have not seen any Acropora eating nudibranch only ones that eat Montipora. I have seen flatworms that eat Acropora. Levamisole dewormer has been used to treat the flatworms in a separate container. High concentration iodine dips have had some success with both pests. Iodine dips are especially effective to determine if you have hitchhikers (both wanted and unwanted) because as you swish the coral in the dip they will loosen their grip and fall to the bottom of the container where they are more easily observed/detected. The Acropora flatworms leave egg clusters at the base of the coral which are fairly easy to spot (at least easier than the flatworms themselves). These can be scrubbed off with a toothbrush or the coral trimmed back in that area. For Montipora most species grow so fast I would frag an small area that was pest free and restart the colony.

Regards,
Kevin
