I'd like to know the sweet spot for these too. I picked some up from Barrier about a two weeks ago. They're holding on, but I open for discussion on the best placement for these. Right now mine are at the bottom of a 26" tank (in a non shaded spot) with a lot of flow and 400w Helios bulbs.

I would have preffered a smaller piece, but bigger than the frags your contact from RC had. Which after talking to him, he does have some more available.

Well, I do believe that they are captive grown because they did come attached, not glued, but naturally attached to a piece of what looks like granite...lol. This isn't at all ocean rock. It's definitely terrestrial rock. They were loosely attached, so I removed them and glued them to a piece of marble tile. The piece of "granite" looks like it's been in his system for awhile. It's got some tubes starting to grow on it and a lil' bit of coralline. BUT, it also looks like it has a "rust" vein running through it. I don't want it in my tank...lol.

I may make a couple,,later,,,, but I've read that, sometimes that's where the problems start.
These are way cool IMO, but they seem to be difficult to keep.
Brandy, with the polyp count I got, and taking shipping into consideration, I think I actually got a better deal than Vivid is offering. Now that they're all open, I'm counting about 20 or so polyps. Those ones at Vivid are really nice though.

Well for orders less than $150 online, you have to call and get a shipping quote from vivid. Any order over $150 is 29.99 shipped. So I guess if you just wanted to pay the $80 for the zoas you got, you got a good deal, but personally I would've bought them from vivid and got another collector too. Those rainbow palys and darth mauls have been screaming my name for months. I have to wait until we can afford it though.

I agree that Rainbow Palys do have loud mouths!! I've been hearing them myself. We just placed an order for some nicer Zoanthids and would have included the rainbows but they were sold out. Which was a real bummer because they had a "buy 1 get 50% off the second" sale going on.
We ended up getting Nightmares, PHEs and Purple Subs. Let me find the site and I'll PM it to you.

Oh boy, you know you wanna bring the nightmare palys, african blue zoas and nuclear green palys to the frag swap :badgrin:. I won't have anything to trade zoa paly wise for another year or so though.
I'm just kidding, but all of those are definately on my want list! I just have to trade or sell more sps so I can afford the cool zoas and palys. I'm in love with a few lps too. I really want the pastel war and peace coral and le babies breath. uh, one of these days.
