Cool, I'll have to hit up one of the LFS then.

Yeah, I just wish we could keep them in the 300. Mike's tried talking me into selling our emperor angel a couple of times, but I won't. Not to keep zoas in there though. He wants all the chalices and acans in the big reef. I tried but he nipped at those. Zoas were a tasty snack too.

I will say I've seen some pretty ugly zoas though. It wasn't until recently that my eyes were opened to the vast majority of the pretty ones!

FWIW I picked up a frag of this from DANNO at the psas frag swap and they have been open and happy as can be since the day after the swap. *knock on wood*

Tom, that's good to know!! They're notorious for melting away. BUT, most people that have had melting issues have had it at about 3 weeks. I think those have all been wild colonies. Since you got a frag from Danno, it'd obviously been in his tank longer than 3 or 4 weeks. I think you're in the clear! What kind of light and flow are you giving it? I'm treating mine as an SPS...lol. It's high in the tank and getting pretty decent flow. From what I've been reading, these Zoanthids like that.

Well currently mine are in a 20L with ~1000gph of flow in it and 260w of PC lighting. Hopefully in a few months they will get transferred to my tank upgrade which will be a 72hex with a 250 HQI and supplemental actinic and about 2100gph of flow.

They are actually purple, not blue :)

Oh, my bad I guess mine must be AOI's then. Those are the same zoa I got from him. Unless that just another name for the blue hornets...?

Tom

my best guess is the only real difference is the region they came from when collected and slight variations are just based on the mother colonies location. hence the different names. But yeah its probably justa marketing ploy. either way they are some awsome looking zoas and well worth a shot.
