ok i need advice
well just when the poor anemone decided to move, pum
it gets stuck in one of my poweheads; buttom
i tried sort of getting it out but its really stuck in there, i thought it was dead, so i turned my lights on to see if there was any movement and it seems like its tentacles are inflating.
i put the powerhead close to one of the rocks, but its still in there.
i really don't wanna hurt it.
ohh ya i felt the foot and it was slimy, is that good?
i also don't want it to sting me like last time.
so please any good ideas on how to get it out?
i'm worried :(

well i just tried getting off but the anemone is moving its tentacles from there too so i didn't have to do so much, the foot got attached to the rock, but some of the tentacles are ripped off and the mouth is not looking good eather.
ohh i forgot to mention that this is a long tentacle

The way we get them off of rocks is to take them out of the water and just let the tenticles hang in the water and they usually work there way back into the water...That is if he isn't actually caught up in your powerhead though.

i see
well, most of it was inside the powerhead, including some of its foot :( .
right now it seems like its going to the back.

Ouch...Maybe he just can't get enough flow (JK) You might have to sacrifice that PH to get him off. Otherwise, I don't know.

LOL!! :D
well right now it's hiding on the rocks.
before it went hiding, i gave it a little bit of food, to see if it would take some since today it was feeding day and it did ate the little piece of formula one, so i'm happy about that.
Hopefully the tentacles will grow up back.

Well, that would mean he's doing fine if he ate. So hopefully, keep your fingers crossed, he should recover.

Gabriella,
Is this a long tentacle anemone or a Bubble tip anemone? If it buries its foot in the sand its an LTA. If it lives on the rocks, its a BTA. LTA's have a harder time survivng powerheads than BTA's, and they tend to wander alot less than BTA's.

For future reference, if you get an anemone sucked onto a powerhead or closed loop intake. Shut off the pump and let the anemone work itself out. DO NOT PULL, PEEL, YANK FOLD, SPINDLE, OR MAUL THE ANEMONE....YOU WILL CAUSE MORE DAMAGE THAN THE PUMP DID.

They can survive all sorts of hideous damage from pumps if allowed to recover and kept in a healthy environment.

Good luck with your anemone's recovery.

Nick

Nick, its a LTA,
i don't know why it moved because i believed it liked where it was.
Now it was between the sand and rock, but today i went and look at it and it seems like its holding on to a rock upside down, and its way way back i can barely see it.
This is a picture of it when i first got it and the other one is where it was before.

Yup, thats an LTA alright....hmmm....well, anemones do their own thing from time to time...no idea why your is acting weird.
But if its eating, that is a good sign. Do you have any clowns in the tank to harrass the anemone while its recovering? Clowns cant be pretty hard on anemones, especially when the anemone is trying to recover from an injury.
Just something else to keep in mind.

Nick

yes i have 2 false percs but i think they are afraid of it :p .
Everytime i tried making them go by the anemone or even throwing food by the anemone, they would go the oposite direction :( .
the only one that i have seen going close by the anemone is my 6 line, but ya i will keep that in mind :)

guys,
my anemone keeps moving alot.
Today, i was watching it and by luck i saved it from getting stuck in one the powerheads again :(.
I turned off one of my powerheads to make less flow.
I'm really worried because everytime it goes floating, it keeps stinging every single coral.
is there anything i can do about this?

My anemone got practically cut in half by a powerhead. He survived fine. If yours is eating its probably going to be fine.

hmm well thank you for making me feel guilty dood.
now i feel like a dog... with my tail between my legs :D .
well if i could add different type of flow, i would ,but my tank is not as big as everyone else's tanks.
and its a glass one, so its not like i can make wholes and do all the kewl stuff that everyone does.
sorry doood. :(

Why do you people insist on keeping anemones in aquariums with powerheads?

One of my BTA clones got stuck on my 3 way closed loop intake.

If you keep an anemone it can happen.

Any other helpful suggestions?

Nick
