So I was testing my water tonight because my favorite sps colony has turned a nice brown color, and my alkalinity is rather high. How high you ask well lets just say that it took right up until the last three or four drops of solution to turn the water color. So obviously I then checked my calcium which is also a little high but not to bad. 430ppm. SO with a hardness of about 15 what is the best way to bring this back down without dropping my calcium through the floor and what is causing this. I use kent salt and c-balance for additives. The only thing I have used in the tank is phos-buster but I thought that would drop hardness not raise it. Any suggestions?

Well you could use vinager, but really dont need to. Or you could use waterchanges to lower it, but you really dont need to. If I were in your shoes, I would just stop adding the alk portion of c-balance and let it drop to balanced then maintain it there.

I totally agree Joe, just lay off the Alk portion of the C-Balance. This will let it go down slowly, without shocking anything. A water change wouldn't hurt either :) .
