Hi everyoneI got a green bubble anenome yesterday on a piece of tonga and as soon as I put it in my tank it decided to move onto a piece of old birds nest. It's really porus. The anenome itself was maybe he size of a 50 cent piece but now I see that he is burying himself into the cracks of the live rock. Is this a bad thing? Should I out him onto a flatter less porus piece of rock. I would just hate for him to die in there. Thanks in advance

The anemone will move to where it is most comfortable. It will not stay inside the rock. They tend to burry their foot in places like that, so he will probably peak out once he is settled.
Let us know how its doing.

So far. Hours into me noticing he is pretty deep. His arms are barley flush with the rock. I will update tomorrow

In the meantime, you should take some readings of water parameters. Let us know what they are. There could be other reasons for its behavior.

Let us know more about your tank
size
flow
lighting
and all water parameters.

They dont like too much flow, and like everybody else said, since they can move, they will look for a spot where they will feel secure. Let it be and just observe.... keep us updated and take pictures... so we can see what you are talking about too....

So the bta hasn't been much better. I noticed my nitrates were probably 20p :(
idk how I let it get like that but the last 5 days I have done two 5 gallon water changes last one being today. Today the bta is snuck his way into another crevis. This happen yesterday. I have been watching at night at he likes to be completely out and waving but not so much with lights on.
I bought some silversides for him and he has taken them every other day. From what I've seen atleast. Today is his feeding day and there's no way to even get to him he's in the crevis.
Ive been looking online and I'm guessing I didn't get a super good specimen. He did have nice color but wasn't super bubbily
ugh so many troubles. I have read that them dying is a bad thing. He hasn't spit out any junk he's just been half deflated or not bright. I tried moving his rock to four or 5 different spots. He looks the happiest with lights off.
How do u know when their done. Or when should I think about taking him out. Like I said he has eaten 3 times from what I seen but he's not nearly what I see on the Internet happy wise.
Another question I have is am I giving him too much light. I have a 11 hr daytime. The more I think about it 11 hrs seems like a lot but if I remember right that's what I was told.
Let me know guys. Thanks in advance
steven

Tank is a 55 dt with a 20 below being a sump fuge with no macro algae yet. :(
lighting is a 4 bulb t5 with one white, two blue, and one purple.
I have a marine lab 900 on one side and a hydor koralia 750 on the other. And my return from my sump.
Tunze doc classic skimmer

My water parameters are usually awesome. But after I swapped everything over to this tank I kinda slacked because I used 35 gallons of new salt water.
The anemone I got after swapping to this tank because my buddy I got the tank and lights from he said he grew sps with it
im looking to go led in the soon future so I won't have to worry about bulbs and stuff. Plus I will have a lot more color pop I cannot wait!

Unfortunately no. My wife's phone won't let me post a picture. Let me try to figure a way out. Maybe I'll download tapatalk again

Pretty sure I starved him. I just got a really small piece into his tenticals the ones that are not bleached and he pulled it in. I had to turn off all the pumps and cut a NB size sliver for him. :( man I feel bad I should've done this days ago. I thought he want eating the pellet or bigger feedings. Hopefully I can nurse him back.
How often should I nurse a NB size food into it?

Get some raw shrimp from the grocery store. Cut it up an feed it. It will be better than silversides.

Think there is saving it since he does take stuff stuff he's just 80 percent bleached and deflated. :( when I fed him three bb size bites he does have more color. Only time will tell. When should I pull him out if it gets worse

There is a chance. I had one that was see thru when I got it. It came back to health but it took a long time. It need to regenerate the algaes that give it its color and keep it healthy. I would shorten the lighting period to approx 7 hours. Get some raw shrimp from the grocery store and feed it small pieces of it too. Make sure the powerheads are not directed straight at it. And dont introduce any clownfish to it. They will just stress it out more and it wont survive.

Here is a very helpful website on BBTA's
karensroseanemones.net - INTRODUCTION

Just leave him alone is the best I could say... Make sure he has light and your water is good. They will come out and move around. I have one that is 11" and only feed him brine and small soft foods so your not starving him. He may be stressed out from you trying to feed him large chunks of food or a few other things... You could feed him some oyster feast and just leave him be.

Just remember to NOT overfeed it. Remember, they feed off the algae they produce, ie. lighting, they catch their food, ie. you feeding it food to "catch", and they are also filter feeders, ie. taking in and expelling water. Just because it doesnt "bubble" up doesnt neccisarily mean it isnt healthy or dying. Take a look at mine. I NEVER feed it. It wont eat silversides mysis shrimp my other fish table shrimp or anything. I moved my tank almost 7 months ago and where he is in the picture, is where he "planted" himself 7 months ago. As for flow, mine loves alot of flow. But in the same breath, if there is a chance of it getting cut on a rock, move your pump or move the bta. Pump is easiest. You dont want to risk tearing the foot. Almost certain death.

maybe it was my water quality then from what im gathering. beacause he was decent colored and fluffed just really extended, just fluffed. and colored.
but i noticed he was almost clear on half and colored a quarter of him. quarter of him was white and deflated. keep in mine he's no bigger than a 50 cent piece
guess ill try to nurse him back, no reason he shouldn't live under lighting flow and good water quality right?
