Another algae id question please....

So after doing a complete turnover of my rock to get rid of the briopsis, I am finally winning the battle. All algae growth has been significantly reduced. I also have a new algae species that is dominating, and believe me, it is much more pleasant an algae. Nonetheless, I would like to research some on how to get rid of it. Any help or advice on ID would be great.

It is pink, fluffy like a little puff-ball of cotton candy.

ya i have something very similar, i just dumped it in my fuge, should i keep it or rid myself of it while it's all seemlying in one clump?

Get rid of it as soon as you can. It's a filamented type of hair/turf algae that spreads like there's no tomorrow. I had it once a few years ago, it's easily syphoned off and lefthanded hermits/turbo snails seemed to enjoy it.

Be very careful how it's removed or disturbed though, it's like aiptasia in it's spreading. Any portion that breaks free will create a new colony.

I have that same type of algae. The only thing is it's only in my sump in my tank. I've been pulling it out but of course it keeps regrowing.

so yeah, any tips on beating it would be great.

My Regal never did and it eats just about anything that floats by or nailed down for that matter. My Zebra hermit was the one that actually eliminated it for good, the turbo's did some damage but moreso casually than anything else.

I've had the mexican turbos demolish this stuff once they got hungry enough with no supplemental feedings. Other than that, it was pretty tough for me to get rid of.

Good luck Mat. Let me know if you need any turbos.. I can spare a few if you want to try them out.
