And could I arrange to come check it out? I'm considering putting one on my closed loop to replace an Ampmaster 4700, but want to check out the noise size first (the Ampmaster is also 1/3HP motor, but I don't know differences in sound).

Disturbedreefer has one too, pretty noisy pump but probably comperable or quieter then a 4700.

McMaster Carr has some Vibration Damping Leveling Mounts with Neoprene Base
With Bolt

Without Bolt

Isolate machinery and equipment from vibration with these mounts. Choose mounts with a zinc-plated steel bolt (include a flange nut and a hex nut for height adjustment) or mounts without a bolt for use with your own threaded rod. Mounts are black neoprene bonded to a threaded steel insert.
Selecting Load-Rated Leveling Mounts

Use the following formula to select the proper mount:

Max. Deflection Mounts with Bolt
Mounts without Bolt

Thread Load, lbs. @ Max. Load (A) (B) (C) Each (B) Each

dampeners to quiet the pumps down a little. Les on here got them for me.

I've got two of them running -- one for my closed loop and one for the return/fuge. I find the noise level increases if you throttle back the output. I agree they aren't really quiet pumps but mine are under the house.

In any case you're welcome to come by if you like; I'm in Woodinville.

I run both a hammerhead and a marlin. You can come check out my setup (just outside Redmond) if you want.

I installed one about six months ago. It was too noisy for our in-stand application even suspended off the stand. The sump was insulated for vibration as well. We had too switch to the Dolphin 4700 instead (much quieter). The Hammerhead is an incredible pump if its being used in an application that renders its operating noise a non-issue.

My hammerhead was noisy at first. Sent it back to sequence and it came back quieter. Sounded like sand was in the pump.

Then it took a 40gal SW shower and doesn't spin any more, just hums. BTW - don't use rubber drain couplings on output of hammerhead - they won't handle the pressure. Got a new pump and it's been quieter than the first one - different shape baldor motor.

The noise level seems to vary a lot on these pumps. Seems kinda like the lottery.
