This firmware revision supports our new AFS and AWM modules, control of your Radion lighting, and most importantly, will eventually allow for the connection to our new cloud-based service Apex Fusion
To update the firmware follow the following procedure:
1.Backup your current controller’s configuration just in case something goes wrong 1.Configuration> Load/Save
2.Save Configuration
2.You MUST directly connect your APEX, with a network cable, TO YOUR HOME ROUTER 1. DO NOT USE Wireless
2.If connecting to Apex to your home router is not possible, see page 107 of the ACRM
3. Disable your wireless on your computer (usually a switch on your computer or a setting in your menu bar)
4. Disable ALL virus/firewall software on your computer 1.PC: If you do not know how to do this, then restart your computer in “Safe Mode w/networking”
5.Download and Open the Apex flash utility (see the links below for Mac and PC) then 1. For PC: 1.Search for a controller using the magnify glass next to the network address line, or
2.Type the controller IP address in the network address line, and fill in the other appropriate information- not “apex”
2.For Mac: 1.Search for a controller using the “WiFi” icon in the bottom left-hand corner, or
2.Select the “plus” sign to add a controller manually
6.Click Update Firmware 1.For PC: If it does not load the firmware after failed attempt 2, then power cycle your Apex by removing the Aquabus cable from the EB8 to the base unit.
2.For Mac: If it does not connect retrying two times, then power cycle your Apex by removing the Aquabus cable from the EB8 to the base unit.
7.After the firmware update completes successfully, then select Update Web Pages.
8.IMPORTANT – now you MUST clear the cache history in your browser (see below for your specific browser)
NOTE: You should now go and save your configuration again as you did in step 1. HOWEVER, if you were running v4.20 or earlier prior to upgrading, your previously saved configuration from step #1 is NOT compatible with 4.3 firmware – DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LOAD IT ONCE YOU HAVE UPDATED TO 4.3
