April Meeting, what does the Club want to do?

I want the club to be more active in what they want to do. I live on South Eastern Part of Washington. I can not have a meeting at my house unless you guys want to travel to Tri -cities.

Here is what I am asking. If someone would like to show off their system. Please volunteer. We do a Pot Luck. Everyone gets some one on one time outside in Barbeque, etc. We have a topic where everyone learns.
If someone wants to donate something to raffle we raffle it. But the idea is to bring everyone up to speed. If a store would like to do a meeting please contact me. It will be first come, first serve. You have to pm here that way it is out front and fair. It shows no favortism. I am asking everyone to communicate as One on this thread. Please show how well everyone works together as One.

I really enjoyed Jonathons meeting this year. Jonathon put out a lot of time, money to make everyone happy. I hope we can do another meeting at someone elses house or a Store. Again, you have to be first to post on here.

It has probably already been done, but what about doing tank tours (in a reasonable local area) with several tanks being shown. Each place could open their home to whoever during a certain hours on a Saturday afternoon. I would just follow my GPS to each place. Come on in, have a beer or glass of wine, get to see and hear the details on the tank in a small informal format. Then maybe end up at dinner somewhere as a group??

I am not one to talk though, I am always so busy I rarely make it to the meetings. anyway just food for thought...

I hate to be a tetoler but that means half of us are driving around and the other half are sitting around wondering if anyone is going to show up.

I spoke with my wife (again) and we can have it at my house. My living room is small and the tank room is smaller. I can come up with seating for 20 downstairs if the weather is bad and if its too crowded there is a formal living room upstairs although we'd be separated. If the weather is good I have seating for 26 plus a large yard if anyone wants to play soccer.:lol: I also have a decent bar-b-que. It would definately have to be a pot luck though due to two things, my work is slow and my tank build is sucking me dry. Im sure I can come up with certain things but cant do it all. I surely wont have any sort of organized presentaion like Jonathan but would like to discuss filtration and flow because its my "big thing" right now.

Well those that have been around know how successful those tours are!!! THey are very fun and very worthwhile.

I've tried to attach the post below, guess we'll see if I've figured out how to do a quote.

Now that I have a tank at home I can host. And My work tank will be done in 3 weeks. I can do something here and then something at work! What ever works for everyone is fine for me. I like the idea of a few cocktails and frag exchanging myself. Thats my two cents. Talk to you all soon!

PS Whenever we do a frag trading day is when most people come. Maybe we should do that more often. It's basically a kid in the candy store syndrom. People get to trade and make a few bucks as well.

You are awesome. Paul said he would host on the 19th. We are working out the details as we speak. So far its a Potluck, Frag swap, date the 19th. Again working on details to make it special for Club members.

I saw your message. I will gladly pay for your membership to PSAS. This will be a Member only Frag swap. The reason being how much money is spent for this meeting.

This will be a very special event where everyone goes home with something.
I want to name this meeting after Bob Moore. A Pay it Forward Frag Swap in hopes of everyone helping each other out. People working together to make this hobby fun, through good times and Bad.

So please keep your calenders empty for April 19th.

Yes Ed. This is gonna be a great event. All should try to attend this one. It will be good times for all. I know when I had the frag swap at my house, it was so nice to see everyone smiling and having fun. Im really looking forward to this meeting.

Also PSAS elections are coming up and we are in need of new or old blood for PSAS positions. If we want this club to grow and keep having these great get togethers, we need help. I know I want to be more involved in this club. I heard around the campfire that a few members would like to see me run for President. I don't know what the thoughts of others are on this. So I guess I'm putting out there now. I just want to help in any way I can. See you all there on the 19th.......

Thought for a future meeting ...

I remember a workshop/meeting many years ago focussing on working with acrylic. There have been a number of threads lately related to that topic, and it might be interesting to have a meeting based on acrylic work.

Make a couple of sumps, perhaps an over-flow box, perhaps a bit of scratch-polishing. I'm sure you could get a couple of people wanting new sumps who would pay for materials and then help an expert build it for them (in front of an audience).

And somebody with a spare acrylic tank with scratches just waiting to be buffed out (or even better - two tanks, one with scratches on the outside and one with scratches on the inside that could be sanded/buffed while full of water.

Just an idea ...
