I've been extremely slow putting together a picture story, but hopefully I'll get around to it. Mortality rate excluding my own stupidity in occasional transfer errors are extremely low. However, I choose not to raise every single larvae, I currently do not have the tank space that is necessary. I tend to collect the larvae and take a fraction of what survives the night. Losses overnight are from 15% currently to 100% initially. From the survivors, I scoop out about 40 and raise those. The mortality of that population so far, going all the way to mature baby clowns eating only flake food is about 65%. Still not great, but I don't necessarily want to raise that many clowns. I would actually like to collect larvae from other peoples tank of a different type, such as black percs, maroons, skunk, etc. Whatever survives, I would split the goods, but I'm sure the transfering would have dire consequences on the survival. I have started cultures from DT's. About 10-20mls into 2 liters should be very healthy and ready to feed to rotifers in about 1.5 weeks. YOU NEED TO ADD FERTILIZER, GUILLARD'S F2 WORKS VERY WELL. A mistake many people make is just adding it to water and letting it go. It will grow for a little bit, but then crash. I will make a very serious effort this weekend to organize my pictures of my setup greenwater and post them.
By the way, Welcome to Reeffrontiers
