baffling picture

so i was taking some pics last night and this completely baffled me, and still does, the images are the same picture. i have a nikon d50 shooting in raw-jpeg mode so i get two pictures a shot, the first one is the jpeg and the second is the raw when opened in photoshop cs3, if opened in mac's preview program the raw looks really different and the jpeg looks the same as below

*edit note they aren't the same size cause i used the apple shift 4 command to take the pictures to make sure it looks like what i see

RAW does absolutely no pre processing of the picture. JPEG and other formats, such as TFF do pre processing in the camera's software. Both pictures look really cool!! Shooting in RAW will allow you the most post processing options.

is there any way to replicate the look of the jpeg, cause i like that look better, or do i just have to mess around with all the color sliders now
