Barrier Reef has made an offer to the PSAS to help raise some money. Thanks so much Barrier Reef!

Here's the deal:
Barrier Reef has recently received around 40 farmed Ricordea Florida.
From Saturday, September 27, 2008 through Friday, October 3, 2008, IF you tell the Crew at Barrier Reef that your purchase is being made in support of PSAS, Barrier Reef will donate $5.00 from the sale of each Ricordea to PSAS.

Please remember to tell Barrier Reef that you support PSAS!

Thanks
PSAS BOD

I was down there today and forgot to ask if anyone has responded to this.:doubt: Just curious

Hi...I haven't talked to the crew so I'm not sure about the response. These are locally farmed and are attached to rocks. They grow out in a greenhouse and are brought into tanks and conditioned to 250w 20K halides before being shipped to retailers. Orange, pink, yellow, green, blue, and a light purplish color are all available. They are 21.99 or three for $60.

Thanks!

I think this would be most effective if you sent out an email to the PSAS mailing list along with this post. Not all members actively read this forum. Its completely up to the club though.

I have heard something about this 777 comment.

Rumors or gossip aside c777 doesnt like the NW ,PSAS or the fact that RF started in WA.

I dont think we can change this attitude .

Thats a great way to support the PSAS we are happy to hear this ,hopefully we could match this deal in the near future.

Thanks for the help guys!:D

Thanks ARSA. Hopefully all of us sponsors can do what we can to promote the club and use the tools they offer us.

Barrier Reef has always been one of PSAS's biggest supporters.
This relationship has not gone unnoticed nor unappreciated.
It is one of the finest shops I have ever enjoyed, fact.

Thanks our morderator (Bob) for taking care of it.

Barrier Reef and ARedSeaAquarium,
I do not know what the post was (nor do I want to know), but I am very glad you both stepped up and defended the relationship between PSAS and you. This certainly makes my day :).

Caesar777 just got banned for 24hours by me, lets not let this happen again as the results could be much worse.

No problem Ghazni. Its been frustrating of late to have to defend the great relationship we have with the PSAS because of the comments of outsiders with no real knowledge of how we really feel. Hopefully our track record speaks for itself. Never has the phrase "actions speak louder than words" been more true! :)

sorry everyone(especially moderators) for the post. feel bad now:(

I find it great what BR does! one good idea after the next!

this is the perfect place for me to mention to the sponsors that while yes, i suggested to the psas in presidential debates that we embark on our own (inso far as becoming sponsorless, and in effect becoming our own store), it is no way a reflection upon my opinion of the sponsor stores. i personally very much appreciate the things that ALL of the stores do for psas, and dont want them to think that i connotated that they do to little for psas. i in fact feel just the opposite, i think that psas doesnt really presently have the capability to make a substantial return to the favor of the store's sponsorship. not that the motivation to do so isnt there, it totally is. and no matter who the next president is, as long as psas has sponsors, im sure psas will endeavor to do all it can as a club to do more to keep them happy.
so, that to me was more the motivation to suggest the sponsorless approach to psas (that and the economy going down the toilet). not because i or psas, is in any way displeased with, or non appreciative of it's sponsors.
also, i just want to personally thank BRA,ARSA,BS,SWC,IR,TSR,RM,AD,DPW,TWS for everything they do to sponsor psas, im positive it is very much appreciated by all the members, and the bod.

Mark seems the best way to return the support is how most members already do. Support the sponsoring stores is done by patronage. I buy almost 99% of my purchases at PSAS sponsors. I think most of our members do the same.

well mike, that's awesome!!! but i dont think that is the norm for most of the psas members. i infact think that most buy their livestock from the local stores, and then save the majority of their big purchases to do on line, at a discount. but, i think it is perfectly normal for people to want to shop around for the best price, and buy from whoever offers the largest discount.
i also think the local stores utilize RF more than psas to get the word out to their local customers, which only makes sense considering the popularity and power of RF. so i'll take this opportunity to also thank RF for all they do for the local community and psas. having the ability to utilize RF really helps out psas ALOT!!! and hopefully, someday soon, psas will be able to offer their sponsors the same kind of advertising power as RF does:)

Do you intend the club to offer major equipment? That sounds confusing.

I beg to differ. From what most of my friends and I do, the vast majority of $ is spent locally. Yes it is on livestock which is what the hobby is all about, the equipment is to enable the life. Perhaps the local stores are more set up as livestock and supplies providers than equipment warehouses.

This is confusing as well , with your idea of turning the club into a self sustaining entity ,who is going to run it and do you plan on that being a full time job with pay to whoever is doing it ?
