What is your method for adjusting a beckett skimmer??
What I did was open the gate valve 100% then adjust down the air unil it quit overflowing. After a week I would have expected much nicer skimmate. Am I adjusting this thing properly??

Thanks
Don

What size gate valve did you use don? That 70 needs a 1.5" valve to work properly, and you should be able to run your air valve wide open. You got any pics of the skimmer now that it is done?

My gate valve is 1.5" and the pump is a pcx 40. If I open the valve all the way the air has to be shut down a little. This isnt my skimmer its a IAP
It does make some pretty nice foam but its just clean foam. I may have got a pint of weak tea with no smell over the of a course of a week. My poor ragety needle wheel put out some black syrup crud.

LoL.

How tall is the one you got? I would give it at least a couple weeks before you pass judgement on it. When I first fired mine up it did take quite a while before it was really performing.

Never measured the thing, I'd guess 24" or so. I turned the air down a bit more last night. This morning the thing was skimming nice green foam. I guess you just need to find the right balance between air and water. I think I'll put on a air flow meter so I can return it back to the best spot after cleaning.
It seems to be a nice skimmer my only complaint is that the guy that drilled the flange screws, needs to adjust the table on his drill press or check the arbor run-out. :)

Well glad to hear that your skimmer is starting to perform. On the screws, I know, and I am sorry. The problem was that I didn't pay quite enough attention when I tapped the holes w/ my hand drill and I screw'd them up on that first blue batch. Now I make sure to check my bubble level on the drill before pulling the trigger :D If you want to take it down for a few days I can fill them in w/ weldon 40 and redrill and tap and it will be all good after that :p
