SO I AM trying to make my own sump refugium. Scared to try it. So who in the Bremerton/ silverdale area would be willing to help me out with the construction. I have a neat idea but worried I am not going to do anything but waste time. Willing to supply the beer and food to help me out but looking for the confident person that's willing to lead me along the project.

You want to stop back by and talk about it. I built all my sumps. You can get some sort of idea as to what you may be able to do for yours

tricks,

i used egg crate and used the front left corner of my sump to convert to a diy fuge...nothing fancy and nothing was drilled..just cut pieces of eggcrate and zip ties...

Egg crate? U have pic, I don't see or understand...

Its the stuff that was covering my tanks to keep the fish from jumping out. I use it in the sump too to separate the refugium from the return section.

fluorescent light diffuser

HD or Lowes sells it..it is in the lighting section.

if you want black eggcrate (which is very hard to find) OBD has some, otherwise, white is the standard color.

I recommend the black crate since the white grows hair algae well enough to become a turf scrubber...lol. A simple CFL 60w in a clamp light is sufficient to grow fuge plants aplenty. You also didn't mention your dimensions for the area of install.

Yea ipisces I will be coming back by in a week or so to get a few more things from u and will definitely bring my notebook for the sumps.

Consider a used glass aquarium that fits in the available area.
Lessens the chance of leaks. :)

Yea that's what I was thinking but finding one that fits sucks. The bottom of my cabinet area will only fit a 20 gal tank and a 10 gal. But can't find anything bigger that will fit. But we will see what I can figure out. That's why I was talking about building it.

DIY is usually cheapest, but I went with CFI for my sump on my 240

i am trying to post but the pics are too big. i will try and take some smaller pics tomorrow (on duty today)...i think i figured it out though, i found a couple DIY on Utube that will cost me like $40 when all said and done and it looks pretty easy, overflow and pump and everything. so i will post some smaller pics tomorrow.

Tricks,

for pics that are too big, you can upload the pic to photobucket or flickr account and then paste the link to the pic.

host your pics on photobucket.com and all you have to do is copy and paste the image code in the quick reply box and the pic will show up, no matter how big it is.
