not positive about this, but it seems like the dark spots are mostly gone..the ones remaining are whitish in color...the thing is, i'm not sure if the dark ones were there before the dip, so i don't know if the dip m ade them go away..i will keep an aye on them daily

i just completed the second dip..it lasted for about 1 hour...i believe most of the bumps are gone..it looks like the small craters have shrunken as well..there are still a few bumps, and many craters, but they all seem much smaller

Looks like we are definitely heading in the right direction. Another 45-60 min dip on Saturday and you're done with that part of the treatment. Hopefully it will be the last concern. ;)

i hope so too!!!! there are still 2-3 large bumps on the yellowbelly ,plus some smaller bumps....should the bumps still be there??? they look like something is burrowed into the fish...also, would one extra dip help anything????

An extra dip would not help "insurance" wise. Best to let the fish be for a week orafter trhe 3 dips to see if it returns or not. The problem is we are guessing at whatever life cycle this parasite(s) may have. Hopefully it was destroyed in the first attempt but the following two should make sure.

The lumps should subside over a few days or so once the dips are done. The formalin is an irritant the same as the parasite. Once both are stopped, it should return to normal. Watch for obvious signs of infection though.

Steve, i did the 3rd and last dip today.. here are some pics of the fish before i put them back in qt

That look's a lot worse than it actually is. Now that the treatment is done, be very sure you keep water quality as high as possible and each feeding is boosted with HUFA and liquid vitamins. Some Beta Glucan would be a plus here as well. Watch for signs of bacterial infection and don't be surprised if these fish do develop MHLLE to some degree.

If you're LFS has it, either Seachem's Stressguard or Kent's Pro Tech Marine would be good choices. Both contain a protein polymer that will speed healing.

i am going to go ahead and start to raise the salinity....let me know if you don't want me to...i have done 2 good water changes this week..i will keep them up!!

If the salinity is low leave it there. It will ease the "fuel" the fish burn and focus more on healing rather than osmoregulation. It will also reduce the possibility of infection. I would still suggest the polymer though.

i am going to my lfs in a bit..i forgot to get the Stressguard that you told me about...the smaller hippo seems to be scratching alot the past day or so..(a little more than i have seen a hippo scratch)..the spots are smaller now on both the fish, but they are still there.

Scratching will be normal with gouges like that. Once they diminish the behavior should as well. Just watch for infection and keep the water parameters/chemistry as high quality as you can.

well i just went into my room and noticed some water dripping from the background on this 30g tank..apparently it has a leak, and has been leaking..i moved everything into my empty 72g..the floor was sopping wet!!!! i have noticed the water level seemed to be going down fast..i just thought it was evaporation..i am going to go ahead and keep them in the bigger tank..(i think)

both tangs are showing very nice signs of improvement!!! the spots are much smaller and some have gone away completely!!! i think the smaller spots are just scars..it's hard to tell, but i think that is the case!!

well the ich is cured..i took care of that a few months ago..they got some sort of pod attached to them or something..i just did some formalin dips a month or so ago..they are still healing..i hope they are fully cured now

well thats nice...I cured mine as well..It was a pain in the a#$...But good luck with whatever they have now.

Ron,

Some of the deeper scars may take time to disappear, some won't at all. What is the salinity at? Sounds like it's time to prepare them for the next step towards the main tank.
