I was wondering, my wife has always liked the long horned cowfish (Lactoria cornuta) and the yellow boxfish (Ostracion cubicus). I know these are easily picked on as they are slow and nervous swimmers. How about flow? Are they known to be SPS munchers? I've been considering one as I have a peaceful tank, but am worried about flow and if this fish is destructive. I havent seen much. It appears that not too many people have experience with these fish. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

i think they can release toxins into the water if i am not mistaken.. i like them as well, but i have never seen a healthy one in any lfs

Had one, it died. They are not the smartest fish.

A standard maxijet900 will blow him all over. They can't get away from the mighty suction of a Rio200.

Ours met the rio ph three times in two days, that is what did him in. He didn't release any toxins or anything but I wouldn't keep one in a tank that didn't have gentle flow...seahorse tank perhaps?

Edit: Had the longhorn cowfish

BCT182,

Ronj is absolutely correct about a boxfish release toxins into the water. They are poisonous and like a toby puffer release toxins into the water when the die. So you need to make sure you quickly remove them from a tank when they die. If not, it will kill everything in the tank. I had a toby puffer that died in a 10 gallon tank and was several hours before I knew it died; everything except a cleaner shrimp died. I now avoid this and any other fish that releases poisons into the water when it dies.
