Hey BR crew!

I bought this little guy a while ago and can't seem to filter thru all the wrasse types to find out what it is exactly. The picture isn't the greatest but he is a fast bugger! He is purple on top with a orange band behind the head and silver color on bottom. Thanks!

it is a wee bit hard to tell...seein' that the pic is fairly blurry, but i am thinking it is either a saddle wrasse (Thalassoma duperrey), a blunthead wrasse (Thalassoma amblycephalum), or maybe a bluehead wrasse (Thalassoma bifasciatum). if you knew where he came from from that would help.

Bought him over here @ LFS in Silverdale. I was just told its a wrasse that wont eat my shrimp. Not a big deal if I cant find its name.

The Blunthead's body and face shape resembles my wrasse the closest. Obviously different colors.

Well, if it does happen to be in that wrasse family, it will most likely eat shrimp....

Hard to tell from the picture, but all the wrasses I've seen are of the same shape so coloration would be the best bet to get a positive ID. Take a look at this picture below...One day I was out in the boat snorkeling and said I'd throw a chicken wing bone in the water to see how greedy these wrasses were because they were following me around. Well, one scoop with my net and look at what I caught!! You can even see the chicken bone in the bucket  I threw them all back, but just goes to show how greedy these fellows are. I didn't realize they would eat live food either. I caught a small chromis and when I got it to the surface, it got out of my net and started to swim down. A blue head wrasse came out out of no-where and ate him!!

i agree with Brie.....if the wrasse is any of the ones i/she listed(or ANY Thalassoma sp.) it WILL eat shrimp.....sooner or later........it deff. looks like a Thalassoma of some kind but if you can get a clearer side shot it will help ALOT.

I dont have a fast enough camera but I have already decided to give it up since I have a mandarin anyway. All my fish are now in temporary holding at the store by my house. I am draining my 100G as we speak so I can take my 180G inside and set it up.
