My Banjii Cardinals and my Pajama Cardinals just hide behind my power head at top of tank , they have been in tank almost 2 months , other fish include 2 mandarins 1 clarkie clown 1 dotty back 1 flame goby 1 chromis
no one picks on them and they do come out to eat than go back in to hide , how can I get them to come out of hiding and enjoy their new home . they are healthy and have a very big appetite , it's hard to enjoy a nice looking fish when you never see them , anyone have any ideas how to persuade them to come out,

thanks

JOHN

Cardinals are fairly passive fish and IMO its probably the the Dottyback or Clarkii that are dominating prime reef space. Dottybacks though beautiful and colorful can/usually do terrorize any and all fish up to 3x thier size in most tanks of 75g or less. They are a fantastic small/colorful fish for larger systems with larger fish as they are bold enough to to swim with the pack.

Cheers, Todd

Maybe I'll try putting the dotty back in my holding tank to see if anything changes
I never see the dotty back pick on any one he hangs in the rock a lot swimming in and out of the little caves
maybe I can trade him with a buddy that has another flame goby I want has a neat purple streak on his lower fin

I know it's not the clarkie since he always so laid back in the flowerpot lol he can't be bothered with the others lol

Fish aggression can be so subtle as to get by the attention of the hobbyist. The fish know it, though. The Cardinals don't do well in that kind of community tank. They require much more passive tank mates.
