i dont know how many of u have had to catch health fish out of ur tanks wearth there pesky or eat your coral or your shrimp
i just caught a falco hawk fish out of my main reef tank and now he is in my second tank i dont know what other peoples methods for catching fish, i find late at night the fish is less aware and asleep they are easyer to net
i dont know if this is bad for the
just theought id throw that out there cause catching a fish u been trying to catch is a good feeling

hmm well let's see.... some i just catch them out of luck (they come to me :p), i caught my bicolor pseudochromis like i said out of luck because he went into one of my rock's holes and lucky me, i just moved the rock in my sump (without knowing) while i was looking for him.... i didn't see him, so i quited and put all my rocks back the way the were and when i noticed my fish was in my sump :p.
I guess pretty much everytime i have done it is at night and i usually end up removing my rocks from the tank so i can catch them, it takes me forever but sooner or later they come to me :D.

Have you tried with a fish trap? may be not feeding for a few days and then putting some food in a fish trap would get him in there.

Catching fish from a reef tank is just a great big pain in the butt, no matter what way you do it (IMO). I have always found that if you move slowly they are less likely to freak out. I use a great big catch net and a smaller chase net although this usually involves moving rocks around. I agree with doing it at night when the fish are less active.
I suppose you could drain all the water out of your tank, that would make it easier......................:D

I said to myself just before I posted my last one that I knew Gaby would be the first to respond.
Hey, I was right!

Here's something you might want to consider next time you have to catch a fish.
No, I didn't make it. All the credit goes to Cracker.

I just use a spagetie strainer it works great just becareful not to damage the fish.

I got one of those fish traps too. I really like it.
I am usually very lucky catching fish with a net, but sometimes the trap is great for the ones that just wont play along.

i had considered a fish trap but there pricey and a net will do just fine i try not to move my rocks around unless im going for a big change and i still havent figured out an aquascrape that works best for my corals
i did get told once when i was trying to catch a blue and yellow damsel to have a few beers grab a rubber band and some toothpicks...sounds amusing to worried im hit the wrong fish

who's gonna drink the beers .... the damsel or you? because if it's the damsel i'm sure you won't even need a net, in fact with 1 he'll be good to go

I use my hand and a clear container.

Nothing else.

Nets are not allowed in my tanks.

Wow!,
That either requires a huge amount of skill or patience.
Probably both.

I basically copied a design and built my own trap. Makes life much easier and cleaner. ;)
