I recently had two snails die right away...seems to be a bad batch...the stores snails all died from the tank I got them from.
Anyway the water smells something awful...I removed the snail but how do you get rid of the smell? I was thinking of adding charcoal. Do you dump it in the sump directly or in some container so the water flows over it?

Kyle

i'd use carbon in a nylon bag and put it in the sump or whereever that has good flow. it should rid the smell and rid the water of the yellow tint.

buy good carbon and make sure to rinse it well before you put it in your sump.

the better the carbon the longer it will last and the cheap ones are phosphate ladden. also pantyhose will work for a filter bag.

kyleM - don't think I've welcomed you, yet....WELCOME TO REEF FRONTIERS!! I have a question - have all of your snails died? and if not, how many?

Just two of my snails have died...no more since then. I have been keeping a close eye on their activity. Water conditions are good right now.
