Good day all,

I'm soon to be receiving a custom 60L x 30W x 20T x .5" thick acrylic tank from Jason of CFI in North Bend, WA. He's also kicking me out a nice little  sump to match. I've been on the list and waiting for my turn and it looks like things are close!

To track the progress from this point on and keep up with pics, I started a thread on CFI's sponsor forum and you are welcome to keep an eye on things as they shape up. I am working on completing the oak stand currently, still some sanding, staining, and poly to go! ..

Here's the link..

Best wishes,

Chris

sweet. What equipment are you going with (skimmer, pumps, circulation, lighting)?

As for lighting, I currently have an Outer Orbit dual metal halide/PC hybrid that I will incorporate for awhile as well as another 60" PC setup.

As I am planning it I am using dual Eheim 1260's for returns from the sump. The closed loop will be powered by a Reeflow Dart to 4 returns. I haven't committed to a skimmer yet entirely, though I am leaning towards a Bubblemaster 200.

Any opinions out there on the Bubblemasters vs a Bubble King?

Cheers,

Chris

Chris,

Nice setup. Jason built and installed my 375 gallon tank. I believe the pictures of the tank itself start on page 4 or 5. I have nothing good things to say about his tanks. The quality and workmanship is excellent.

What is your budget for your skimmer? I have a H&S skimmer with 2 Eheim 1260 pumps that is rated for 700 gallons. I get some serious skimmate. If budget is not a concern you may want to look at Bubble King, Deltec, or H&S skimmers.

Good luck and keep the pics coming!!

Hi Chris, All you need to do is to rely on Jason's advice and you will have an optimal system, I've been doing salt water thirty years, and I've worked at 4 different LFS's in between my real job's, so I thought I knew it all, undergravel filters rule you know, while constructing my latest system it occured to me that someone who has done hundreds of systems with cutting edge technology might know a little bit more than me, so even though I am much better looking than Jason, I decided to listen to him, since I did that my tank is great, but my wife seems to have vanished, my tank is stable now so I am going to sacrifice my tank time to look for her, that is just the kind of guy I am....

PS I looked at bubblemaster, I might have gone with them but they just didn't have a big enough model for my system, so I went bubble king, (300) it kicks butt, check out the BM at barrier reef, I think they are the best bang for your buck on smaller systems, come up and check my BK any time if you want, I need some convincing that buying european equipment is worth it even though the US dollar is worth les than used cat litter.......
