Hi,
That is why I suggested making it a captive breeding forum. The people who keep clowns often drift that way eventually, right? And then that would cover bangai's, mandarins and all the other fish people inadvertently or intentionally spawn, getting them immediately in touch with the people who actually know how to raise marine fry-the clownfish people. In the meantime the clown freaks would probably know it's a de facto clown topic site and have fun with it...
I agree that some other sites are a little too big and bloated with specialized forums. What I really hate about them is that their search feature is always "overloaded" but the site tells me if I was to be a paying member they would divert some bandwidth to my request. This keeps me a fan of this site, on top of it the people are really nice here for the most part.
Plus the animal rights people love to talk about us draining the reef for our precious nemo's. Anything we can do to demonstrate that the primary source of clowns is the local breeder or ORA/Petco would help. I think all websites serving marine tank interests should promote captive breeding as much as possible if nothing else than for political reasons. I have tried posing questions on rotifers, breeding shrimp, best clowns for breeding and other related reproduction topics on this site and couldn't figure out where it belonged... general discussion? Advanced topics? Is this question already a dead horse? Does anyone really know more than I can glean from the books I have here at home? Having a nice fresh forum on captive rearing would make it easier to find such topics without boring those who are not at all interested. Of course then the soft coral people might want a forum for them since we have SPS or other hard corals well covered, and I miss the nano forum...
My 4 cents since I already gave 2. Don't mean to be aggravating and I am not aggravated, hope it doesn't sound that way. I love this site and you guys are doing a great job.
