I've had these clowns for about a year now. The female decided to jump from the tank as I was cleaning it today and I didn't notice until it was too late. I just figured she was hiding, but after a few hours I looked behind the tank and saw her there. Now I am undecided what to do with the lonely male that is left. I may put him into my nano or may just give him away to a good home and start fresh with a new pair. Which clowns do you guys think for a new pair? I really like the black/white clowns but don't think they look as nice since their colors are dull. Maroon's look great but are mean as can be. I'll figure something out....in the meantime here is a pic to remember her by (the one that is mis-barred up front).

Sorry to hear than man...Always sucks (like steve said) to lose a fish :doubt: If I personally ever got any clowns again starting over with a fresh pair, I would definately get me one/s like the one in my avitar. I think he is so cool looking:)

That's a really cool looking clown! I'd love to land a pair of those, I wonder where Josh found those locally (we live in the same area).

PM him...He told that a few days ago:)

I just sent him a PM. Another LFS around here has the B&W clowns if I can't find the one you listed. It would be nice to have something a little different :)

Yeah...That would be cool! Then you can let me know how they are:D

I ordered a pair of B&W clowns about nine months ago. They came in diseased and half dead. Never made it out of QT.:( Could you not get another larger clown of the same species?

ohh boy that sucks dood :( .
Well If you really really decide to get rid of him... my female is always looking for a partner :p :D.
But i think you should just get another clown for him.
I like black and white clowns but i like more Krish's picture :) .

I probably could get another false perc and try to pair them up but it may just be easier to either give him away or let him live in my nano. My wife is interested in getting a small pair of true percs so I'll see what I can find locally as I've never ordered fish from the internet. I do like the B/W clowns but don't like how their noses stay orange, plus a splash of orange color with false/true percs is always nice to see swimming around :)

Sorry to hear about your clown :(. Inland Aquatics had some of the clowns that Krish posted about last time I was there. If you are really interested, you might give them a call and see if they ship fish (they ship detrivore packs, etc). I believe they called them "Tangerine" clowns, but I can't remember for sure. They have Tangerine listed here: Tank Raised Fish

hehe i agree :p ... they are cute but the orange mouth doesn't do it for me, but then again you could try looking for ones without it, I'm sure it'd be easier since it seems like they're becoming popular.
If i was you, I'd just keep him and buy 2 more clowns and let him choose:) .

Thanks for the link Nikki! I sent them an e-mail to see if a Naked clownfish (I've personally never seen on with clothes, lol) is the same as the Tangerine Ocellaris they sell. I'll let you know what they say. I checked out the one at the LFS that was apparently sighted, it turned out to be a saddleback (or tamato) clown that didn't have stripes. Cool looking fish, but I like the body shape of the Ocellaris/Perculas more. Thanks again for everyone's help.

Some recommendations Rick :)

Either get another smaller ocellaris clown (let the now male turn into a female). YOu can do as you suggested above (i.e. take the male out, and start fresh). I do not have any true perculas at the moment (no babies yet). Working on that....

I would pick a pair that you prefer aesthetically....and go from there. Is this in your 65 or your 20L nano? I would go with either the smaller skunks, true perculas, stick with the ocellaris... If in the 65 gallon tank, you'll be able to get by with GSMs...Clarks....and other larger species.

Totally up to you :) , but let me know if I can be of any help.

Best,
Ilham

Thanks for the reply Ilham. The new clown pair (whatever they end up being) will be for my 65 as I have RBTA's which will hopefully serve as a host. I love the look of Maroons but I hear they get pretty mean and are significantly larger in size. My first fish was a Clarki that would always bite my arm, not a real fun situation when I would clean the tank and I was happy to give him away. My Ocellaris were really timid which was a nice break but they almost seemed to shy to actually swim around and explore the tank. I'm leaning more towards Perculas because I do like their coloring. I'm looking forward to getting some good information about clowns this weekend at the meeting :) I'll talk to you there.

Hey dood I don't knwo if you have seen Nikki's clowns, They're onyx and very pretty :).
Jsut should check them out if you haven't.

Onxy are cool looking clowns but more $$$ than I'm willing to spend. I'll be just as happy with a few Perculas.

Hi Rick.

So you have decided on two Amphiprion percula ?

Are you looking for Papua New Guinea variants or Solomon Island variants?

Best,
Ilham
