Come on guys!!! Let's get things going!!!!

Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum

Help Support Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum:

Thank you very much, it helps out big time as they can actually track how many clicks they get each month and if they make a purchase. It is my fault for not reminding the members of this, as some don't even know they are linked to their site!

I click on the banners...but admittedly I kinda just go through directly to their site cause I have memorized them all. LOL But I will try to make a more conscious effort to use the banners.

Okay, so I went to a couple of the sponsor forums. First thing I noticed which seems wrong to me it another sponsors advertisement at the top of the page. Also I clicked on the banner and I get a blank page. Its not linking to their website.
I actually didnt know about the banner being linked to their website before.

Lorrie, go to the home page and then go to the right navigation bar and click on the tab that says sponsors. It should take you to a page with all of the sponsors banners that you can click on which would take you to their link and go directly to their website. Give that a try. :)

Scooty, I think the banners she is talking about are the rotating banners on the top of the screen. Those that rotate everytime you refresh a page doesn't take you to their websites. You have to use the link I mentioned in order to get to them. :)

Yes or the forums you can find the bright blue sponsor link right before the sponsor forums. I'm working to get another link up easier to access and remove the links & the entire bar below the Whats New link.

No they all work even the rotating banners, your from too far south so maybe they don't work for Bohemians!:rofl:

Bohemians! :rofl::rofl:

Hey...I resemble that remark

Thats why I am clicking on the wrong "banner" HAHAHA
I was talking about the "SPONSOR" banner under their name in a post. They actually redirect you, but its a blank page. I wonder what happens when you click on the "RF Staff" banner. Or what ever you call it. HA nothing happens!

We call those Badges! :D

every time i see a post from somebody on here it is immediately responded to by one of the mods on here. therefore starting a conversation that would be rude to cut in too. IMO

maybe let the members chime in a little some of us like me dont see some posts for a day or two and you guys have 4 answers to there questions with in 10 minutes, not that's bad but it sure shut me up.

Meh just post your opinion anyway...I do! LOL

(psst sometimes you can just disagree for a post or two and see them get all riled up) :-D

i like our mods dont get me wrong but when a newbie gets an answer from a guy with 21,0000 posts with mod next to there name who they gonna believe? i would have listened to there advise at that stage in learning as well. therefore making an an opinion from us not soo talkative members kinda time wasted.

we all know most of us are flat tired of the same old questions that have to be answered and thank you guys for doing that

Personally I would believe the guy that answered the most rounded and solid answer to my question. Also You may have a key piece of the equation that an earlier answer didn't cover.

NaTe R , Lots of times on another forum I will get a reply that will repeat what the previous reply had stated. IMO I like to see that. That way I am not relying on one OPINION to be correct. I find it easier to accept the advise if more than one or two even three people all agree on the same answer.
So by all means throw your reply in there even if it is nearly the same as previously posted.
You are helping build confidence in the newbee or whoever that they are on the right track.

Great thought Peppie. I have to agree even has a "reefer" on my 4th or 5th or 6th system....lost count lol I love to see someone confirm multiple times what the previous guy stated.

Akunochi, has a point I think, that you could have additional information that will give someone more options or choices when trying to decide what they are going to do. Maybe your system is set up the same or what you are doing is close to the same thing that the person with the question has thought of doing. Your input could reassure that person that what they are doing is okay and will work or give them idea that helps them figure out what will work. I put things together from different answers to fit my own situation. It really helped me to have a number of different people with different set ups explain how and why they do what they do.
Peppie too. Confirmation is a great help.

He could have a point here too. Is it necessary to show the post count in the threads? They are stored in the profile of the person. If someone really wants to know, they could look at the persons profile. Maybe once the new members post count gets to a certain # it is hidden also. Just a thougt :ear:

I disagree with that. What does the post count matter? Anthony Calfo or Jake Levi could post in here with a post count of 1 and his knowledge would still show through.

Well to you or me, not alot knowing what it really means, but to a new member, that might mean something, or they may think it means something.

I to have been thinking about the post count. IMO it is not needed. As Seth pointed out. Someone with 30yrs exp in reefing could become a member and give good solid advice, some members may look at his post count and think this guy is newer than I am, why would I take his advice.
Or maybe some one would ask something about a stand and get a reply from a member with 15555 post. But knew nothing about building anything and pasted on bum info.
I believe it can be very deceiving and intimidating to new or nearly new members.
In a way it can be false reassurance on the info you are receiving.

It no longer affects the way I process the info I get. But it did when I was wet behind the ears.

That's very noble of you to start this post krish, but don't feel like any of the staff has ever been "out of line". As far as I'm concerned, anybody giving advise based on experience is as good as the next person. I feel bad that I personally havn't been around as much lately, since I love to give advise, and learn from others as well! Anything to join in on a good reef discussion, and the information benefits us all! And of course this is always a great place to show off and meet people who share a similar intrest too!
