It's a soft coral. Probly a xenid, can anyone tell me the Genus and species ? Or atleast a better common name than "sand polyp" ?

--- Nevermind I can't get the photo to work, I will post it later.

I will accept that they are in the clove family, but they are TINY. No where near the size of a daisy/clove polyp. They are about the size of the mouth of a typical clove.

these are octocoral, i can't recall its scientific name either. very common hitchhiker in OZ.

Steve,

What type of rock did it come in on? Or is it just something that grew at Gateway Aquatics so we'll never be able to trace it?

Looks like it could possibly be Sansibia too.

Over the choice of Cespitularia I will call this stuff "Sansibia".
Sansibia was on the tip of my tounge but wanted to call it sensimilla, I know that wasn't it.

Sensamilla is something different....;)

yeah, that doesnt work too well though. I have a hard time believing anyone who says it just started growing there on its own when its dried, and wrapped in several bundles in seperate baggies for individual sale.

;)
