let me ask a question i havent done a water change in like month in a half but i use a very good ro/di and i am starting to se an outbreak of cyano... about 8 week into cycle..... any imput?????

Cyano is fed by the food source that it is sitting on. Lift the cyano mat and you will find the source of the problem. Use a small power head to keep that area clean and cyano will disapear. Adjust your flow to keep it gone.

My 60 gallon got a massive outbreak of cyno- it was out of control. I was actually able to peel strips off the bottom.

I tore the tank down, I moved, and I havn't set it up again, but I ended up getting it in my reef tank. Its in the rocks now, and I am going to use the stuff I bought for it, redslime remover. It claims to be reef safe. I don't like adding anything thats not natural, but I allready used it on a clients tank and at this stage I feel ok about it.

Need to figure what's feeding it. Once that's removed/resolved it should go away on it's own. Using a chemical solution is a risky thing.

well, i know what exactly caused it- tap water and a spot of bad circ.

but i used some fo the lace rock from that tank to prop some live rock up on, and despite a high pressure fresh water rinsing, I still manged to get some in the nano. At this point in the game, I am willing to risk it as this new tank is barley set up.
