Dead Firefish

Hi, when I weak up today I saw a little red thing in the sand, It was my firefish: ( . I bought this little buddy 4 years ago..... I mean he was the first fish that I had in my first reef tank !!!!!!!!!
he didnt show any sign of disease. How can I know if he only died for his age

Sorry to hear you lost your fish :doubt: If everyone else in the tank is doing well, all water parameters are in check, and the fish doesn't have any visible signs of being attacked, disease on the skin etc, then I think it may be safe to say just "old age". I guess the big test will be to see if any other fish make a turn for the worse. Just a thought

small animals dont live as long as larger animals. Supposedly every heart will beat around 1 billion times. Little heart, fast heart rate, shorter life, Larger heart, slower heart rate, longer life. That is way stupid oversimplified, but it is a good rule of thumb.
Sorta like a Macaw will live longer than a Parakeet.
A Buffalo will live longer than a mouse
A large angel or tang will live longer than a firefish.
At least thats how I understand it.
