I have had problems with all the shippers but I wanted to share this one.
About a month ago I purchased over $400 worth of SPS frags from another reefer. He had shipped priority overnight so it is guaranteed by 10:30 the next morning. I check the tracking around 10:00 and it says "with courier for delivery" I check again at 10:45 and it shows the same thing. When I check it a 11:15 is says delivered at 10:15 and that I signed for it. I immediatly check all the doors and find nothing so I call DHL. They tell me system says the package was signed for by me and it was delivered. I tell them I want the SOB that said I signed for it back at my door. They call back 1 hr later and tell me that they had delivered the package to someone else and that they would try to locate it. When I do finally get it half the corals are already dead. The shipper agreed to re-ship the DOA corals and due to my scheduling took until yesterday to happen. Well DHL did it again but this time they just threw it on someone's doorstep and left. When I finally did get it.. Out of 6 frags 2 "may" make it. HOW CAN THEY SCREW UP THIS BAD TWO TIMES IN A ROW???? vent over. I feel a little better.:|

I would be all over DHL on this!!! Go up their management chain and tell them you advertise their methods if you don't get some satisfaction.

B, you definitely need to talk to the head customer service supervisor and ask him if he wishes to avoid a small claims court action. They don't have the time nor interest to show up and typically lose by default. Better to simply take responsibility for their mistake than get a judgment to add to their already poor PR. They will offer a payment in full to close the dispute. PM me if you need more info.
P.S. I'm not an attorney, just a contractor.

is there any other shipper that you could request?? I hate DHL but someone I know will only use them. FedEx works best for me but I know they aren't the best either.

I'd try to talk to whoever you can cause that is outrageous.

you got it the same day:eek: we just went through this with them. we ordered some rotifers next day express and didn't get them untill 32 hours after there original delivery time. you should have heard some of the things CS said while we were trying to track the package down:rolleyes: luckly rotifers arent as delicate and the packing was great.

UPS for me all the way all the time...Sorry to hear that Brian. You are being hit from every angle these days. Hope things turn around for ya:)

yikes, that is terrible. I collect antique dishes and I finally had to stop buying them on ebay because every other one was showing up broken. The companies just dont care and it is a huge huge huge hassle to get anything done about it. Maybe get things sent to your favorite business and have them call you when it gets there. They usually have businesses down reliably. Its homes they really screw up on.

DHL uses independent franchises to do their deliveries. You need to find the truck that works your area and look at the side of truck for the franchisers information.

Hey I once experienced a deal with an apartment complex that kept a $500 dollars of over payment on me for over 8 months. This with me going in weekly asking for it. When I finally went and filed the situation with the county for small claims court they informed me and I believe the paperwork did too that you are elgible to ask for up to three times the amount. Granted you have to make a case to the judge that justifies the extra money for damages or time spent with the issue.

Just a thought from my previous experiences. Things may be different in the state and county that you live in.

This sucks! Hopefully they will do something to cover the hassle. This had to be the same delivery driver, I would ask what they are going to do about him.

This is what I do with live ariivals. I have received stuff through UPS and Fedex and have it held at the shipping hub or a Fedex Kinkos near my house. At least this way it is not sitting outside or sitting in a hot or cold truck. I know that this is not possible for all but it has worked for me. I HATE USPS, their tracking is not tracking what so ever!

I've had good luck with FedEx. If you want to get it at around 9Am, you can just have it shipped to the holding station. I had a package that was supposed to come overnight and be there by 10:30Am, ended up coming around 6pm but it was because of equipment break-down.

IMO, this is the best way to go about it. Have it shipped to the holding station, and pick it up. That way it can't end up on someone else's door step. I had a Fed Ex shipment that I picked up, and I ended up getting it long before it would have come to the door. You just have to arrange the shipment, so you can pick it up.

Sorry for all the losses :(

It was the same driver. When she saw me she said "opps I did this to you last time." The shipper has a account with DHL so I did not have control over that. The DHL hub is over 50 miles from my house so pickup is not a good option either. At least it is all frags from a existing tank instead of the wild. The shipper is saying he will ship again next week.

I will never ship with DHL. They have twice delivered items to the wrong address with a signature. Sorry about all the trouble. I tried using the kinko's thing, but you have to be careful. In my area they deliver to the houses first and then drop off at the kinko's. Not sure why, but that is the way it works in my area.

Well they have been reshipped and "should" be here in the morning. I am crossing my fingers.

I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS!!! THEY DID IT AGAIN!!!!!! I have been on the phone with them just now. They are trying to figure out where they delivered it.

How do you know what FedEx holding station they'll deliver to? There's a FedEx Kinkos within a mile of my place, but I'd be afraid they'd just hold it at the FedEx hub in Bothell if I asked them hold it at the station. I've had FedEx screw up my deliveries before and then hold it at the station in Bothell. I can't make it to Bothell after work before their office closes, so I'm screwed if they do that (has happened a few times on livestock deliveries with FedEx).

if you go to fedex web site and look at there store locator it will tell you what places are hold for pick up. then when you place your order you give that address and label it hold for pick up
