Trying to build a magnet float like the Tiger Shark. I was floored when I saw the $96 price; so I am trying to make my own.

Any ideas on where I would purchase a magnet strong enough for 3/4 inch acrylic? My tank size is 375 gallon.

thanks

http://www.gaussboys.com/ They will have the magnets. Use a tiger shark recover set for the pads. Let me know if you want the inside to float and I may have the plastic box. You wont save much but its a nice little project especiall if you wan some custom exotic wood.

Don,

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking the same thing about the accessories.

Do you have any idea what size magent I would need for 3/4 inch acrylic (375g tank) ??

I am guessing (and I mean really guessing here), this one:

Any help is appreciated.

I dissected Mojo's old one awhile ago. IIRC it had 4, close to that size maybe a little bigger, 2 stacks of 2 IIRC just a flat metal bar on the floating side.
I may still have the magnets I'll see if I can find them.

Thanks,

I was thinking DIY would be cheaper, but it looks like I may have found a web site that sells list for under $90 with shipping.

I forgot to post what size the magnet are. 1 3/4 x 1 3/4 x 5/8 two magnets. That explains part of the reason they are so expensive.
