I had my skimmer break about 6 months ago and I bought a cheapo ebay skimmer. I really liked the large body volume and collection cup. My thought was upgrade the pump to a modded needle wheel (like a sedra 5000) in the near future. Well the injection venturi is a bit wierd on this, so I was thinking of drilling two holes in the side and installing a uniseal to simply add a recirculating pump with a mesh mod needle wheel. The skimmer is below. My question is what would the best pump be? What is a good rule of thumb for recirculating pump size? Is bigger better or would there be an optimum sized pump based on skimmer volume?
