Try opening it up a little more with the 18-55 f7 is where the quality starts to drop according to all the pixel peepers.

Don brings up a very good point. Each lens has it's own "sweet spot," where they take the "best" picture. Each lens' sweet spot is different. This sweet spot effects sharpness, vignetting, dynamic range, etc. Once you find your lens' sweet spot, try to shoot as close to that as possible, adjusting shutter speed and ISO to control your exposure. Your ISO can be adjusted, up, a few steps, without causing a lot of noise. You should be able to adjust your ISO all the way up to 600, before seeing any degradation in noise.
