The stain will be a clear satin. My wife wanted it to match the floors. I had to make some consessions. :)

I should have mentioned this earlier, I thought I did. I designed this stand with bigdave. He is the one actually building this stand for me. He added some of his touches. It was actually pretty cool working with him. He did put up with me when I cam to visit him. ;) If you look at the canopy you will notice that there are vents on each side. This is to hold up to two 4 inch fans in each vent. Originally I had planned to have a singe 4 inch fan on each side. Bigdave changed it to accomodate two fans instead. I think it looks better than I had hoped. You have to give credit where credit is due. I could never have built this on my own. I am too much of a computer geek for that. :D

Cookiemn,
I've been doing something very similar w/ the design of my new stand. I went about it a little bit differently though. I built the stand around a box that was waterproofed in order to contain spills. That Murphy guy loves to cause a mess......
I wish I had thought about the removable floor though.....hmmm....
Overplanning........I love it.
Nick

I thought about the removeable floor when my HOB skimmer on my old tank overflowed and some water soaked the rug under the stand to protect the wood floors. I wanted to dry out the rug, but I couldn't get to all of it. In the worst case with the new stand is that I could cut some of the carpeting directly underneath the new stand and be able to dry the wooden floors that I can get to. It is definitely overplanning, but I have architected enough systems to plan for the worst and hope for the best. Bigdave was very patient with me and said the same thing. I told him that I feared my wife's wrath more than I feared the cost of him building the stand for me.

Why didn't you have Crows Ridge build your stand and canopy? I thought you supported the site's sponsors? The Rick

I do. I am trying to talk Dave into becoming a sponsor. One thing that led me to choose Dave was that he worked close enough to IAP that he could bring the tank over there for the final fittings. All of the equipment has been purchased from sponsors. Believe me, I have spent way more on outfitting this tank from sponsors than the cost of the stand. Heck, the plumbing or the lighting alone will cost more than the stand. I haven't even thought of the sand, LR, and livestock that I will need to purchase that will be bought from sponsors such as Coral Beauty. So to answer your question, I do support our sponsors. I have also never said anything degrading about them. In this case is was more of convenience and the close relationship that Dave has with IAP. Dave is looking into getting a business license first so I think that he will eventually become a sponsor.

Hey! the Rick he found me by calling the Sharks Reef who is a sponser. I didnt search him out thought this site or any other. I do all of the Sharks Reef custom stands and I also support alot of sponsers on this web site I have a IAP tank that I bought from the shark reef. I also bought all of my livestock from the Indoor Reef, Below Sea level, Blue Sierra, and Saltwater City. Im not trying to steal any of Chris Crows bussiness. I think he is a great person and he also builds a Awsome Product and I wish him the best of luck. I stay covered up with the Sharks reef orders and i can hardly keep up with that. I have only bought one thing for my tank online and the other $6000 + went to the sponsers of this web site. So thanks for your concern Dave
