Hi

I was wondering if someone would explain/steer me in the right direction regarding dusk/dawn lighting.

I have a 150w 20k MH in a 30g tall tank, now I've been told that I don't need to get atinics because the blue is already in the 20k, my problem is that I have no dusk/dawn lighting and I would really like something, any suggestions?

my Mh is one of those that clips onto the tank, it sits roughly 10 inches from the surface, anyone know of company etc, that has some type of light that will fit under my MH without melting it ( preferably online or in Canada)

thanks

if you just absolutely have to have some kind of d to d lighting look into leds.

Either that or you could just go ahead with some actinic pc's and just have them come on an hour or 2 before your halides come on, shut off when your halides come on and then come back on for maybe another hour or two right before your halides go off (ie if you have space/provisions to do something like that and clip on's aren't your only option). If clip on's are your only option, here is an example of a clip on moonlight http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merc...&Product_Code=ICE-FML&Category_Code=moonlight as well as a link to other types:)

Just a reg aquarium light you can get anywhere would work.

You dont need dusk and dawn, it just cool to have.

Very nice don, did you do that yourself? I am assuming you are using actuators on timers or something similar.

I bet when that thing goes up Don needs sunglasses in the house.:D

just got my first marine tank and all is goin well, water levels hav been fine for about a month now and the live rock is looking gr8,iv got a few tubo snails in and im wanting 2 put a couple of mandarins in and a cuple of clowns.
iv read it's ideal 2 hav a tank 9 months old 4 anemones and 6 months 4 a mandarin.
what are your vies on this?

Unless the tank is very large, I'd hold off on the mandarin. The idea that an aquarium needs to me a specific age for anything is a bit of a stretch. What it needs to be is cycled and stable.
Welcome to RF!
Just out of curiosity, why did you post this on this particular thread?

if your tanks only been up 3 months i would wait on the mandarin, unless you have a giant tank. those little buggers eat alot more than you think they would :)
