My eagle eye polyps won't open. I have a 36 gallon corner tank, 30 lbs of live rock and 4" bed of live sand. Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate at 0, had Saltwater City check my magnesium, it's okay. I had them right under the light, which is 2-T5s, 2 blue antinics. When I first got them for about 3 months they looked great, but now they have closed up and won't open. Checked my iodine and it is around .04 to .05, and salinity is 1.024. I have done 20% water changes every week and have moved them around the tank to different locations, what am I doing wrong. Maybe they just hate me. Any thoughts?

I would place them in medium light and medium flow and leave them alone for a while. Maybe dip them in melafix first. It never hurts to dip them in melafix or an iodine dip. But then I would place them like I mentioned and leave them alone for a while. It can take a while for them to open and acclimate.
Thats just what I would do.
Oh, and did you check the pH?
And bring your salinity up to 1.026. That tends to be the standard salinity everyone keeps their tanks at and it could be having an effect on them.

Is there any tiny white spots? I had some that acted that way and they developed pox. Furan 2 cured that for me. Also had some next to metallic GSP and they wouldn't open, move them away and they would open, move back and stayed closed. That brought me to the conclusion that there was some sorts of chemical warfare going on. How long have they been closed up?

They should be acclimated by now I would think, I have had them for 4 months. Like I say, they were doing great then about 3 weeks ago they closed right up and only open every once in awhile but not all at one time maybe only one or two. My pH is 8.2, just checked it today. Will 1.026 on the salinity bother my fish?

Scampy, no white spots that I can see. I have moved them down to the middle of the tank, I will see if that helps. Like I say they have been closed for three weeks, only one or two partially opening once in awhile.

Sundial snails. They like to eat Zoas.

did u add any thing new?new zoas?
put them in a lot of flow...they should open back up..but if u see few polyps starting to melt and starts to feel mushy then start taking them off...does it have some kind of algae?
if its just close up and its clean and doesnt look like its melting either..just put it in high flow...they should open back up..

Thanks for all of your help. They have been repositioned to the middle of the tank and with water changes I have reduced the iodine level down from what was recommended by some LFS and I went back to the starting paramiters when they were open. They have all returned to their glorius selves, they don't like the iodine and my pulsing xenia's have started pulsing again. Saltwater City are the ones that said to reduce my iodine levels and that sved them, so hats off to Saltwater City .
