I made a mistake when I first got into the hobby and bought a snowflake eel. Long story short, everyone (eel, shrimp, damsel, 2 clowns, brittle star, and various snails) were compatible for about 4 months. I gave up trying to feed the eel about a month in, he refused food and seemed to live off of the regular fish food. Once he jumped out of the tank and I found him the next morning...plopped him back in the tank and he was just fine. He never gave the appearance of bothering the fish and the shrimp cleaned him all the time. So the other day my clown went missing. Looked all over the place and couldn't find him. Is it possible that the eel had clown pancakes for breakfast? He is only about 14". I can't figure this out. Should I try to sale the eel or just give it away?

I agree...It's in their nature so sometimes it is inevitable for them to do this. Hope he turns up for you though 
Generally speaking, snowflake eels prefer to hunt crustaceans, but this is not to say that they won't eat a fish that is small enough to fit in their mouths. If the eel was big enough, he may be the culprit, however I would presume him innocent until proven guilty...

I had a friend with a wild caught snowflake and he loved fish :shock:
Oh, they will definately eat fish sometimes...but my experience with them is that they are pretty discriminating feeders (which is why they can be so difficult to get to take specific food) and tend to like to feed on small crustaceans like shrimp rather than fish...but yeah, I've seen them eat small fish from time to time as well....
