I am wondering what you all see in dayly evaporation from your tanks. For the purpose of this poll I am going to make the choices in US cups. I want to know how many cups per day your tank evaporates. When you vote please respond with a message on how many gallons youre total system is.

Lets use a ten gallon comparison for this. So lets take my tank for instance. It is approx 90 gallons total volume and I have roughly a evaporation rate of 2 gallons per day. So if I took the value of 16 cups per 1 US gallon and times that by two I get 32 cups "16 x 2 = 32 cups per day". Then I want to find the amount of evap of 10 gallons of my tank water. So I need to take my total water volume of 90 gallons and divide by 10 gallons "the magic number we are going for so everyone has comparable results" And then take that number and divide it by my 32 cups per day result. "90 / 10 = 9 then 9 / 32 = 3.5" I get 3.5 cups per day per every 10 gallons of my total water volume evaporated.

Please round up for your answers

Also here is a good litre to cup converter if you use litres instead of gallons.

I do realise that everyone is going to have different answers, I think my evaporation is on the high side. I have fans on the hood and my house is heated by a wood stove so I think this expidites the evaporation factor.

I agree with the above posts. I have a 430 gallon system and lose three to five gallons a day depending on the season. You do the math. ;)

I am sick so I did the math. 50 gallons a week, 7.1 gallons per day, 2.8 cups/10g

we'll say avg of 4 gallons per day. So 4 x 16 = 64 cups. 430 /10 = 43

64 / 43 = 1.43 but we'll round up to 2 cups per ten gallons dayly.

i dont understand why its worded like that...

I lose a 1.25G a day when the humidy is below 55%

My question is when is the US going to finally switch to metric?

Cups, gallons, quarts, pints, ounces, teaspoons, tablespoons, what a mess!!!!

I lose less .85 cups per gallon on an "average" temp/humidity day , what kind of a number is that?
