Actually... if you reread his post, it's 8 cups per 10 gallons. (He said .85 cups/gallon.) I think the XX/10 gallons is what is screwing everyone up.

With that said... During the winter, I'm at just under a cup per 10 gallons, per day. During the summer, I'm at about a cup and a half per gallons, per day. Tank size is 46g, no sump, partial glass cover on top, with PC lighting.

Thanks Kurt, yeah we are very similar on evaporation and caught the typo.
One gallon per day out of my 72 is bout a cuppaday, similar to my Joe consumption perhaps.

Wonder how many cups of coffee I pass per 10 gallons of body mass. Lets see, Hmmmmm. 7.5 pounds to a gallon equals 20 gallons (OK OK, I am rounding) Two cuppa Joe per day... Tank to Mike ratio is .5 at STP based on average Avoirdupois measurement

It is a matter of humidity, air circulation, relative temperature and power consumption.

My 40 evap 1 to 1 and ahalf gallon a day. That is because I have a fan blowing across my tank and I want that much evap so I can get more Kalkwasser into my tank. I suppose it all depends on each aquarium's wants and needs.
