I recently filled up a 30g tank using RODI water. I sprinkled a little less than the required amount of salt into the tank to let my two Koralia 3s mix the salt. Well two days later it still looks like a couple of teaspoons of salt are lying in the corners and swirling throughout the water. Shouldn't this salt be dissolved by now? Any thoughts from anybody out there?

Depending on how stong the powerheads are.... it is possible it has not mixed yet. What brand of salt? have you tried stirring it up more by hand?

Sounds like you may have a few solids in there.
When I mix my salt I sometimes get the undissolved stuff in the bottom of the barrel. Not much though and it is pure white.
I have noticed that when I get IO each bucket has a different characteristic to it when it mixes.

Should I just filter it out through my skimmer then? Try and break them up by hand? What do you usually do twilliard?

It shouldn't hurt to leave it in there. I always get a little undissolved stuff in the bottom of my mixing tub with Reef Crystals. Good reason to do it out of the tank so you can leave that stuff behind.

If this wasn't a brand new bag or bucket and enough moisture was allowed to interact with the salt when you did your last water change, this can happen.

Thanks guys, I'm going to try and run my Remora to see if that will help to rid the tank of this excess salt.

I always just mix in a seperate tube and pump the water out when I get it where I want it. I agree it is not that abnormal to have some stuff left over.
