No I don't use it every day, more like once a week or every other week but if you had two bags & did that, it would be good.

Still using sponges in my overflow (old prefilter) and tired of cleaning them. Will switch to a quiet standpipe insert soon. Any good designs? I think I recall seeing blazer show his dursa design recently.

Where is the cheapest place to get bags mailed from? What size holes is best for a mixed tank?

well i just got mine last weekend and i can't believe they got so dirty after just a couple of hours so they sure grab junk :p .
Mine has some sort ring that attaches to my drain thingy without any problem.
i'm only using it every water change and then i just wash it with really really hot water and let it dry.... at least that's what Scooter dood told me to do :D :p .

do you ever get detrius buildup in your sump????
My old sump yes, the one I have now is new & improved:D
No really I'm still building my tank set-up but from what I've seen the only place detritus would build up is in the refugium.

Way to go, first thing I do is haul it outside & use a garden hose to really wash the gunk off, inside out also. Then I do the wash thing, really to say how much one should use a sock would depend on whatever is done to keep the tank clean, so what is right for me most probably won't work for everyone.:p

i was just about to ask the same thing.....what size is the opening on the sock?? are there different sizes???
