Filter sock question

are they not reuseable???? i thought that you could rinse them really well and reuse.

I have 2 sets that I use. I use one for 3 days and change it out with the next set. That way I don't have to wait on the washing machine as I always have one set clean. So yeah, they are reusable and really don't ever wear out as long as you don't use a ton of bleach when you clean them.

Yeah, there are different sizes. Let me find the one I use on filterbags.com

The size I use is a 4" ring and 14" long. It's made out of polypropylene felt.

They have a minimum order of 25 bags though so you may want to split it. They cost 2.46 per bag which is very cheap.

Time is limited for me so if this was already mentioned sorry but the filter sock I have has a plastic piece (like a half moon) that goes across the opening so that the filter sock can slide ip a pvc pipe and it will be held on by itself. I think that is how Ken uses his (Kensn) I'll loke for a pic of his sump for you

you can always try getting a group order... i don't know any reef clubs over there but you should try, I'm sure there's people around your area that would want socks and if not, then check P.A. i guess .

Yep that is how I had my last one, just slip it over the pipe, my new one has a tie string, haven't tried it yet to see how it will stay on.

make sure you get the right one .

a couple of months ago i sent the husband to get me a filter sock.... the boy goes to petco and get a filter bag :lol: ...... they have string and they look like a filter sock but they're not filter socks, they're for putting media in them :lol:.... i'm sure you know better but just in case :lol: .

LMBO!!! don't try that, i already did :lol: :lol: ... it doesn't work ..... the same with filter pads ... it gets sort of gooey in the sump :lol: and well tooth brushes can't do it otherwise i'd use them .
