The stuff I have does great under leds, which I have set for a 20k color.

But since it is a macro, I would guess most any light.

Are you referring to Halymenia durvillaea?
How successful are you guys at keeping this Macro?

4x39w t-5 ho, over a 50g fuge. ive run actinic and 10k's at one time and run 6700k another and I can't tell much difference with growth rates but have had it develop some serious illuminous pinkish/orangish firey tips when viewed under just actinincs. actually perefers cleaner water! I usually give it away when thining out the fuge

I think it is a Halymenia sp. Not sure how many there are.
Did a Google search on that name and came up with a wide variety of pictures.

I bought a piece of it that was rooted to a small rock from a guy on another forum. Don't ask me how it is rooted. It's the only piece I've seen come this way.
I have it in my 50 lps/sps tank and it grew like crazy under my Radion gen 1 fixture.
It got really top heavy and that's when large pieces broke off.
Now a few others have some.:)

Is your loose floating?

i have it under leds in the nem tank, under t5's in the fuge, and under t5's in the 60. 4 bulb on the 60, lower in the water column, no orrange tips. high in the water column in the fuge under a 2 bulb t5 and it has orange tips. orange tip and grows best in the nem tank, bit that tank also runs skimmerless.
all mine is glues to rocks, but new growth breaks off. seems to like light and decent flow for me..
