So i have lots of little specs floating in my tank. and i cant get them to go away, i dont think they are bubbles just really fine sand. how can i get rid of them? I was thinking about turning off all the powerheads and letting it all settle. but not sure. anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Try a filter sock temporarily on your sump's intake and that should pick up anything floating around in the tank or if you have access to a H.O.T magnum (or Magnum 350 cannister filter) with the polishing cartridge, just run that for a few hours. Turning off the pumps for it to settle won't solve much as everything will be stirred right back up when the pumps are turned back on. Best bet is to mechanically remove the particles. Just a thought :)

LOL....great minds think alike. I started typing my response and got interrupted. Then you basically said the same thing.

Well my tank is 75gals and only has an overflow on one side. so im not sure how long it will tank for all of the water to go through the sump. I have a total of 1200gph of flow in my tank, and the sump pump is around 500gph. but ill give it a try.

If you have a 500 gph return pump, then that's how much water is going through your sump per hour, minus any head loss. It should clear up fairly quickly. As was mentioned, if you have access to a HOT magnum canister filter with the micron cartridge, that will polish your water to an unbelievable level. A Vortec diatom filter will polish it even more.
