I guess if you only get clams than thats what you have to feed. Can't you get fresh fish?
Fish is good especially if you can freeze and chop up the guts.

Yes it is. Try to get small salt water fish and freeze them, then slice off thin pieces, use the entire fish, bones, guts and all.
