I have one Maroon clown for about 4 months, and decided to get another. I did research these fish, and the most I found on bringing in a new one, it that it needed to be smaller and the same breed, for the existing one to accept it. However, so far the existing one has not stopped picking on him, and I am about to pull the original. It's 140g tank, so there is plenty of room for them to share. However, I am not seeing a match made in heaven at all. Should I just pull the new guy before he gets killed, or just wait it out. (It's hard to catch him in this tank.)

may want to PM Ilham (Elmo18).. I've heard too many nightmare stories about gsms killing one another off. me personally, I'd just give up and pull one out.. see if Ilham has anything different to say though.

sorry it's not a match made in heaven

you should take him out before the large maroon do it for you!!! is very difficult to create a mated pair and you will probably need to try with several smaller individuals before the larger one (or female) accept it!!!!!

There is some discussion/info in the Clownfish Workshop in the Workshop Forum.

Best,
Ilham

I have a GSMC and a Clarkii in my 75G. They have been together almost 2 years. The GSM is bigger and he does chase the other around a bit, but they don't nip fins and such. I just recently found out how rare it is too be able to house these together. I just wanted to let you know its not impossible just unlikely. Good luck.
