Hi Terry,
Have you had any experience w/ the golden pygmy angels(centropyge aurantius). Would this be a good addition to a 58gal. reef mainly sps. We'd be rounding out the family w/ a mated pair of true percs and a springereye pseudochromis. Are they fairly hardy the system has been pretty disease resistant so I really don't want to add anything that would add stress to the others or be harassed itself. If this is not a good fish I have also been looking at some of the flasher and fairy wrasses if they would be a better selection. Thanks for any help or comments you or others can add to help w/ me making this decision.
See Ya,

They are a great little fish but rather shy and tend to stay in the rockwork alot. Quite peacful IME and spend most of the time cruising the rockwork picking at the film algae on it. They will eat prepared food too.

HTH,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the response. Will the Angel eat any kinds of Caulerpa? I just had some type of Calerpa spring from the rock work. The tank is about a year old and I have never introduced a macro algae to the main display nor have have I had this species of macro algae in the system. Not sure of the name I I'd it yesterday but can't remember the name( I knew I should have written it down). I think it started with a "m" if not I'm pretty sure it was one of the other 25 letters in the alphabet. Is this Pygmy Angel fairly rare and are they hard to get?
Take Care,

Hi clownnrnd,

Yes, this species is hard to find and exspensive. It would probably be fine in a 58 gal tank, but like other angels, some of them will nip at corals. They are extremely shy so you won't see it often and I would be cautious about keeping it with anything but other shy, unaggressive fish. You may be surprised, but a marine betta falls into this category.

Cheers,
Terry B

Thanks Terry,
Maybe I should be looking at other fish. Tank is fairly small and if this fish like to hide maybe this enviroment might not be too homey for him and cause stress. I also like the powder blue tang but afraid this tank might be on the small side for one of these. Any thoughts on this? I also like the fairy and flasher wrasses can anybody recommend one of these that would fit in well?
Thanks all and Take Care,
