Just in case anyone else is as stupid as I am.
Here is a story.
One day I got the bright idea to build a model rocket, and as the payload I decided to take all the pretty sparkly powder charge out of the fireworks mortor shells. So
I go get a nice small balsa rocket, assemble it, and disassemble two motar sparkle shells.
Using a booster engine to ignite the fireworks inside I put it all together.
Well July 4th comes and I am of course very very very drunk. (I dont drink anymore and this probley unrelated but I do alot less totally stupid stuff too.) LOL
So we all go outside I set it up and launch it. Now being drunk and stupid, I never tested it for center of gravity, didnt test launch one with that wieght of payload or do anything you are supposed to do.
So up it goes, about 80-100ft, then it stops, then it turns over, and the engine still burning it shoots straight at the ground where I am. Everybody else had enough sense to get away. So it hits the ground maybe 8-10ft away from me, as the engine burns out, and the booster charge lights. My dumbbutt had glued it all solid too so it would explode instead of eject the nosecone. So BOOM, and there are burning fireworks all around me. You know those ones that shoot up really high and burst. It was like that but one the ground with me in it. Somehow every single piece went around me, and nothing hit me.
So the lesson of the day was,
A. Steve shouldnt drink.
B. Steve should swing test his rockets.
C. If I think something is a good idea, it probley isnt.
So there you go.
Dont be like me.

ROFL! Man Steve...We could so hang out! I do stuff like that and don't even drink!:p Happy 4th everyone. Our Independence is next week, but if you ask me, our country is still heavily dependant on others:D

Speaking of drunken stories. A place I lived at had a sand pit (small bonfires)in the back, which was about 4' deep. We used to jump off the back of the place which was 20' high and no problems. Well we had a big party one night and it had been in the low 30F's for the past two nights. It had rained pretty good earlier in that week. Well, I was trying to impress some gal, after being dared to jump, which I had done before without consequence during the summer months. Well I jumped and later after having x-rays come back negative, the Dr. asked if I landed on the sidewalk running from the police. When I told him a sand pit that I had done it before, he shook his head and informed me that given the weather, sand takes on the properties of concrete and that I should lay off the sauce. 16 years later and I still haven't jumped off a building.....

Hey, since there are no questions on reef chem., maybe I could start an intro today on Explosives Chemistry :D

1. Weigh out 20 grams of Hexamethylenetetramine ( 1,3,5,7-Tetraazatricyclo(3.3.1.1(3,7))decane ).

It looks like this

2. Add this to ..........

Hmm, maybe not a good idea........ATF, FBI, DHS, NSA, etc..:(

Hey Boom, whats the scariest stuff to work with. Common names will suffice since I do not have EOD experience, Mike.

I think its ammonia and iodine. I may be wrong, if I remember right, thats the way to make the extra stupid dangerous stuff. When it drys.

IED, ICM, AP Mines ( especially smart mines), certan aerial bombs ( we will not get into it ;) ), 40mm grenade. WWII UXO with picric acid or any muntion with a picric salt. Unstable peroxides. HMB ( Home Made Bombs, I do not call these IED, although most do now).

Wright

It is called Nitrogen Triiodide a "touch" explosive. It is the most sensitive explosive. It is just a demo explosive, often used for show and tell. Magicians often use it. BUT you NEED to understand it or you are in really BIG trouble.

As the police, anything that goes "boom" no offense, tightens my short and curlies, but after a week of school about these things, its frightening to see how easy these things are to produce. Especially peroxide based.

I dont understand it, and I am not going to make any at all.
The Nukes back aft on my sub, had a cool little cartoon. B.C. walks up to a branch on a tree. He looks at it, next scene he touches it. It wacks him in the nose. They had written if you dont know what it does, dont touch it. LOL
