i have a 12 gal nano (not sure the brand, no names anywhere) with a hood. I keep my tank around 78.5F. The last couple days it's gone up to arround 82F and I don't know what to do, I put in some frozen water bottles and that works but i'm not home all day. I want to keep the hood on if possible, and a chiller is kind of more than i want to spend for my 12. Summer is here, and I need advice! thanks

You may wish to adjust your lighting schedule. For an example you might want to turn your lights off during the hottest part of the day. Just my 3 cents worth. Regards.

A fan worked great for me I just bought one from Target and screwed it to the inside of my stand and pointed in the sump. My temps before this were getting to 86 today it is at 81. I don't have any in the hood but I am going to get some computer fans for that.

Something else to keep in mind is trying to keep the house cool. In the evening when it cools off outside I open the windows in the living room and put a big box fan in one window blowing the cool air in. We also do this in the bedroom it works great to cool off the house. I leave them on all night and in the morning I take them out and shut all of the windows and all of the blinds and this helps keep the heat out.

my tank runs hot at 82 my tank seems ok but i also have a 150 sunpod in it its 14 gallon
with fans running when the lights on

How big are your frozen water bottles? Can you fit in a 2 liter pop bottle? If you put that in your tank in the morning, it should cool it off enough to make it tolerable all day... Maybe you could also prop the hood open just a little bit so that some heat escapes...
