Hey all,

I am considering a project for my office at work. The office is heated only 5 days a week, nights and weekends the heat is turned off. My office is in north bend, and over the winter it can get pretty chilly here.

I'm curious if there is a simple way to determine how powerful of heater(s) i would need to be safe in the worst possible scenario.

In short, how much heater is it per 1 degree higher than the ambient temp of the room?

That is exactly what i needed. So i think 3 x 250W heaters would suffice even if the temp dropped to 24 degrees... I think i can get away with less because while the temp may drop outside to 24 degrees sometimes inside it liekly wont drop that fast over the weekend

I would insulate as many sides of the tank as possible besides having it fully covered. You will be literally heating the room with aquarium heaters which is very inefficient.
Perhaps if a small room, a space heater?

Another problem is trusting three heaters to not accidentally cook the tank. I would get at lest one temp controller.

Yeah no there is heat in the room but it gets turned off over the weekend. Its a 40 Breeder and i was planning a full canopy, also i was planning on having it up againt an L shaped wall so i really could insulate the back and one side. Another thing that would probably help is a foam/ Rock back wall inside the tank

Get one of the expensive heater that can control temp...or is this just a lie on the back of the packaging :doubt: Anyways I think that they control it....(In the sense that they won't cook the tank. They obviously won't chill the tank.
