My name is Paul. I am getting back into saltwater reef aquariums after a few year break. I used to have a 400gal reef, but now I am getting back into the hobby with the intent of a 10 gallon nano. I am currently beginning setting up a 10 gallon tank with natural filtration/ attached refugium and 4- T5HO 12" lights. I am going to get some live rock and sand this weekend and start the tank cycling. Hopefully by the beginning of August I will start adding sealife. Outside of that I am active in the Coast Guard and I fish and duck hunt.

Welcome Paul, It is nice to have you here at RF. You will find this is a great group to share with.
That is quite the down size. I am sure you will find it much more challenging to keep a 10gal healthy opposed to something 40 times larger.
Good Luck. Please post some pics of your set up and a couple of some dead ducks.
Do you use a dog to fetch your boodie or are your kids able to swim? LOL

I have the tank set up. I have "base" rock in it. Going to get some "live" rock and some Chaeto and let it cycle. Have pictures to post but It says I have to have more posts to be able to post pictures. Once I am able to add corals, I would be interested in buying frags from any local folks who are selling it. Looking to add some stuff like polyps, zoos, and xenia type corals first. Not sure what else I am wanting but guess i have to start somewhere. Is there any big tank cycling differences between large tanks and nanos?

Thanks, Do you have all your plans set for your shallow tank, Don't you wish you had it set up already. My kids love to put a chair in front of it and watch it even though it is empty.

Hey Paul, :welcome: to Reef Frontiers and back to the hobby. Since you are just up the road from me, you should stop by and pick up some starter corals. I'm sure that I could chisel something out for you.

Cheers, Todd

Todd, I am waiting for the tank to cycle. But i will definitly have to stop by and see your tank and get some corals. Thanks. PM me when and your address and we can figure a time to meet up.
